Akash Tharani

Akash Tharani is a Facilitator and BIPOC Advisory Council Member at L4L. He is also the Director of Equity at iMentor, where he supports the design and implementation of the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work. Through this role, he provides strategic thought partnership on DEI initiatives across the organization.

Prior to iMentor, Akash worked as the Manager of Leadership Initiatives at DC Public Schools. While at DCPS, he focused on ensuring equitable practices to support the recruitment, development, and retention of educators and school leaders that reflected the diversity of the city's student population. Before this, he served as a Trainer and Career Program Manager at the Posse Foundation, supporting the success of students at seven colleges and universities nationally, as well as local alumni.

Akash started his career teaching high school math in Chicago. This experience activated his passion for working in the intersection of educational equity and racial justice. Akash has a BA in mathematics from Boston College and a master’s degree in secondary education from National Louis University.
